Hash Salehi, Director of Technology and Innovation at ZBeta: Best Advice

Today in the Best Advice Q&A series, we hear from Hash Salehi, director of technology and innovation at ZBeta. He shares the best advice he’s ever heard, how he helps continue the legacy of the security industry and whose words carry the most weight in the sector.

Security Sales & Integration: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

Hash Salehi: Ten percent of what you earn throughout your life will come from your technical skills; the other ninety percent will come from your ability to communicate effectively.

SSI: What advice would you give to those looking to achieve success in the security industry?

Salehi: Understand that you are your own personal brand. Never compromise your integrity by repeating company messaging you don’t truly believe in. You won’t be at any one company forever and people remember when someone shares questionable information.

SSI: If you could point to one person in the security industry and tell up-and-comers, “Make sure to listen to what they have to say,” whom would you pick and why?

Salehi: Mahesh Saptharishi. I’ve worked with him since Avigilon acquired VideoIQ and watched him grow into his role as CTO of Motorola Solutions. He’s genuine, passionate about technology, and deeply committed to his beliefs. What he says, he truly believes — and he’s always searching for the next big innovation.
