Paxton: Secure Your Site During Outages With Efficient Battery-Powered PaxLock

Image
Rising energy costs have been an ongoing concern for many businesses and households in the U.S. When many locks are powered and maintained by mains, the question is, how do you ensure your building is secured during shutdown? Paxton ’s battery-run, energy-efficient door handle, PaxLock Pro , is an ideal door lock solution when power supply is limited. The energy-friendly design of the door handle is explained: PaxLock Pro will enter a sleep mode when not in use, requiring minimal energy. When a person presents their token to the door, built-in capacitive sensors will wake the unit. This minimizes energy consumption, allowing longer battery life. PaxLock Pro is designed to be compatible with any DIN standard lock for a quick and simple installation. It works as standalone or with Paxton’s access control systems Net2 and Paxton10, meaning it can be used in a broad range of applications and is futureproof as a site’s requirements change and grow. Diving Deep Into Key Input on the Access Control Market

Image
While the electronic security industry has been built on burglar and fire alarms, it is actually access control that has been around the longest. Eons ago, it was likely not long after one primitive human or tribe first met another that actions were taken, or measures put in place, to prevent others from accessing a particular resource or gaining entrance to a given area. Now, envision if you will — like the famous opening of the classic film, “ 2001: A Space Odyssey ,” with early Homo Sapiens discovering tools and the smash cut to elaborate space travel — the head-spinning shift to today’s advanced access control technologies. With sophisticated and elegant solutions dotting the industry’s landscape, access control devices and systems have accelerated their ascension to swiftly gain ground on intrusion, fire and, more recently, video surveillance products. The Big Idea: Entrepreneurial Spirit Drives Jeff Handy’s Success

Image
Jeff Handy is not just entrepreneurial; he is, in fact, a true entrepreneur. He’s been in the security industry for 35 years, yet he is only 53. He’s paid his dues in the industry, first with ADT , then 13 years with Siemens fire, and then decided to do it on his own with FSS Technologies . That began with an acquisition in Arlington Heights, Ill., which led to some other acquisitions, and now, he’s running a small empire, with offices in the Chicago area, South Bend, Ind.; and Detroit. He has an MBA from Notre Dame and seems to have a pretty good staff, with some people whose last name is also Handy, including two sons. He seems mighty proud of both of them. He’s a likable sort. I had a rather long breakfast with him and listened to many enjoyable references about him from competitors, suppliers and people who have interfaced with him from our own company. He’s the real deal! Related: Big Idea of the Month: Secrets to Success Are Simpler Said Than Done With 90 employees and ...
