Minuteman Security & Life Safety Makes Another Acquisition, Adding AdaptToSolve

ANDOVER, Mass. — Integrated security, communication and life safety systems provider Minuteman Security & Life Safety has acquired LaGrange, Ga.-based security technology integrator AdaptToSolve, its third acquisition since July. Electronic Security Association Files Petition Opposing FTC’s Click-to-Cancel Rule

DALLAS – The Electronic Security Association filed a petition for review with the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit on Oct. 22 in response to the Federal Trade Commission’s click-to-cancel rule . “The FTC’s click-to-cancel rule imposes unnecessary and unlawful burdens on America’s electronic security and life safety companies,” wrote ESA chairman Kevin Stone in the association’s response. “Auto-renewing subscriptions give residential and commercial customers peace of mind in knowing that their security and life safety services will continue uninterrupted until customers choose to cancel the service. “The click-to-cancel rule makes auto-renewing subscriptions more complicated and expensive, raises concerns of liability, and it will lead to more interrupted service and higher prices for customers. AMG Systems AMG810/816 NTP Servers Ensure Accurate Network Time

CASTLEFORD, U.K.—AMG Systems, has introduced the AMG810/816 series of cost-effective Network Time Protocol (NTP) Servers. NTP Servers are required in closed networks where there is no connection to the internet to assign time codes accurately. The British manufacturer emphasizes that accurate time is critical on a network because most security protocols, such as 802.1x, CCTV video, and all types of system logging, such as Syslog require time-stamped data. The company explains the AMG810/816 series are Stratum 1 devices, meaning they are just 1 level away from the source time clock, either atomic clock or satellite. SIA Leads Letter to Congress Urging Protection of Security Devices

The Security Industry Association ( SIA ) today sent a letter  signed by 92 security businesses and organizations conveying a strong, industrywide message to Capitol Hill urging members of Congress to weigh in with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) on a proposal that would restructure the Lower 900 MHz frequency. 71% of U.S. Apartment Renters Want More Security From Property Managers

PLEASANTON, Calif.  — Deep Sentinel, a security system that combines a personal guard with proprietary artificial intelligence technology to stop crime, conducted a survey of more than 1,000 apartment renters across the U.S. to learn what they think about their buildings’ security.
