Security Solutions Awards 2025 Winner Spotlight: Telguard
Many manufacturers claim their products are the best, first of their kind, revolutionary and game-changing. However, the real test ― especially when dealing in the life-or-death realm of security and safety ― is how those solutions meet the needs of both security integrators and customers. Enter the Security Solutions Awards.
How does a security tool, resource or system deliver problem/solution results out in the field as deployed in real-world scenarios?
The annual Security Solutions Awards program celebrates manufacturers and vendors whose electronic security solutions have been proven in the field to meet security, safety or other organizational needs for end users.
“It’s one thing to tout a new video surveillance camera, access control system or panic button,” says Dan Ferrisi, group editor, commercial and security, for Emerald. “It’s another thing — and, I would argue, even more important — to spotlight how those solutions are being deployed in the field to protect people, property and livelihoods.
“That’s what the Security Solutions Awards program is all about. It emphasizes that products are only products until they’re deployed as part of an actual solution. And only the best, most effective solutions can lay claim to Security Solutions Awards honors,” he says.
Our panel of experienced security industry pros judged each entrant on the technical merits and ease of installation of the product or technology solution, in addition to its ability to do the following:
- help installing security contractors meet project bid, specification or design parameters
- satisfy regulatory, compliance or code requirements
- deliver the highest level of system capabilities, features, functionality, user-friendliness, results and client satisfaction across the full range of general, niche and vertical-market applications
Who Won the Security Solutions Award for Fire/Life Safety?
Telguard earned the 2025 Security Solutions Award for fire/life safety for its TG-7FEM multi-carrier dual path fire alarm communicator, featuring its “industry-exclusive Multi-Carrier technology,” which evaluates and connects to the strongest-performing network among AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile.
Using Telguard’s patent-pending Carrier Selection Process, the communicator analyzes signal strength and performance at each site and locks onto the optimal carrier.
If service is disrupted, the TG-7FEM automatically fails over to the next best-performing network—ensuring uninterrupted communication even in oversaturated urban environments or remote rural areas. This capability directly addressed the client’s need for reliable coverage across diverse geographies.
In winning the 2025 Security Solutions Award for fire and life safety, Telguard’s TG-7FEM helped a national organization with hundreds of locations across the United States to modernize their fire alarm communication systems by eliminating reliance on traditional phone lines.
Historically, each location operated independently, resulting in a wide variety of fire panel brands, cellular coverage conditions, internet availability, and central monitoring station relationships. This fragmented setup posed significant challenges for standardization and scalability.
The primary goal was to identify a universal solution that could seamlessly integrate with existing infrastructure across diverse environments—without requiring the replacement of functioning systems or disrupting established monitoring partnerships. The client prioritized adaptability and long-term reliability, placing technological advancement and future-proofing above all other considerations.
Given the wide range of fire panels installed over the years by different integrators in multiple states, the chosen communicator needed to offer broad compatibility in order to avoid expanding the scope of the project.
Additionally, the physical environments varied greatly—from large warehouses to compact office buildings, located in both urban centers and remote rural areas—necessitating a solution with robust nationwide coverage that would operate in any environment.
Regulatory differences across municipalities added another layer of complexity. For example, some jurisdictions like New York City prohibit sole-path communication, while others have buildings with limited electrical infrastructure or fire systems lacking sufficient auxiliary power.
Therefore, the communicator had to support multiple communication pathways (Sol and Dual-path options) and flexible power configurations to accommodate these varied requirements.
Ultimately, the client was looking for a single, scalable solution that could be deployed across all locations regardless of panel type, connectivity options, or regulatory constraints. The TG-7FEM was selected for its unmatched versatility, broad compatibility, and advanced technology, making it the ideal choice to meet the client’s ambitious modernization goals.
