Camden Door Controls Announces Side Load Column Push Plate Switches

MISSISSAUGA, Canada—Camden Door Controls has introduced a new line of ‘Side Load’ Column push plate switches.

According to Camden Door Controls, the products are designed for use when an obstruction above the installed switch prevents the use of a Top Load’ model. The Canadian company explains these switches are installed by mounting the activation plate directly onto the back switch assembly with six screws.

Camden Door Controls states the Side Load Column Push Plate Switches incorporate an enclosed backbox. The company suggests that dealers can use the product line when mounting the switch where the back is visible, or when selecting the option for Kinetic wireless or DPDT switches. The product line can also be used where it is desired to mount the Column Switch to narrow curtain wall.

The CM-84 and CM-85 Series extruded aluminum Column switches (Side Load Column Push Plate Switches) are ADA, OBC, NBC, CSA, and CSBC compliant. The products incorporate a 3-inch (75mm) wide activation plate, and Camden Door Controls offers the line in a choice aluminum, black, bronze, and blue architectural finishes, along with a wide range of faceplate graphic options.

Additionally, Camden points out the Side Load Column Push Plate Switches provide an option for a built-in hands-free sensor, Lazerpoint battery power, and Kinetic no-battery wireless transmitter.

Moreover, the company asserts that column push plate switches offer greater convenience, better aesthetics and a lower installation cost by providing a single activation device instead of two high/low switches, as required by a growing number of building codes.
