Snap One Rolls Launches Control4 Connect & Assist Recurring Revenue Solutions

CHARLOTTE, N.C.—For years now, recurring revenue has been an aspirational goal for dealers seeking to augment cash flow and boost their business. With this and other benefits in mind, Snap One has introduced the Control4 Connect and Assist programs to make earning RMR, well, a snap. In what is anticipated to be a major boon to its dealers—and the smart-home market—in general as an RMR opportunity and customer experience/service model— Snap One ’s new Control4 Connect and Assist are complementary solutions that address these vital needs for integrators. Environmental Hazard Detection: How to Leverage Mass Notification and AI Video Surveillance

Image
Many organizations are rightly concerned about the threat of violent intruders, but when overlooked, environmental hazards can be just as dangerous, disruptive and costly. Part of that issue stems from a lack of resources. Organizations only have so many people and sets of eyeballs to monitor hazards. With many organizations being primarily worried about weapons, fights, and other direct threats, indirect perils may go unnoticed. National Security Technician Day 2024: High School Elective Sparks Career in Security

We’re continuing our ongoing series on the unsung security industry heroes who are on the front lines of every system installation and integration with Dave Fake, 48, lead technician for Eastern Security Services, a veteran of more than two decades in the sector. We will continue telling these stories before and after the Foundation for Advancing Security Talent (FAST) celebrates the second annual National Security Technician Day on Jan. 23. What’s one installation that made you particularly proud? One of the most memorable Installations was a Vesda fire system in a state park museum that was a grain mill in the 1800s that has no heat with the exception of one room for the controls. From design and implementation to maintaining and servicing for years afterwards. One of my running jokes about this install was that I have actually installed a smoke detector outside in Central New York. It was a sample point in the Vesda system under a deck in the building. How did you get into th...

Financial Analysis: Security Solutions M&A’s Stable Amid Evolving Economic Backdrop

Image
The security solutions merger and acquisition (M&A) market held strong through late November 2023, outperforming the prior-year period. Fragmentation across the sector — and in the systems integrator (security and fire/life safety) segment in particular —spurred a frenzy of consolidation activity from private equity-backed buyers. Buyers also showed continued interest in residential end-market participants, which saw top-line growth supported by strong demand from homeowners. Related: Security Industry Forecast: Experts Chime in, Sharing Expectations for 2024 and Beyond Across the commercial end market, increasing construction value spurred acquirer appetite for targets with strong industrial surveillance capabilities. Robust equity market returns in recent months also offered an optimistic acquisition outlook for strategic buyers this year. Despite an unpredictable macroeconomic environment, the sector’s M&A market for the year ahead is anticipated to build on the su...
